Vancouver Stag Gathering 2020
The Triumph Stag was first introduced to the Automotive Press in June 1970 at Knokke-le-Zoute in Belgium and later revealed to U.S. audiences at the New York International Auto Show in April 1971. Consequently, this year marks the Golden Anniversary of the Triumph Stag model. We hope that many U.S. and Canadian Stag owners will consider attending one of the special Stag Gatherings being planned this year.
TSCUSA directors, including Founder Michael Coffey and Canadian Director Tony Fox, have endorsed the holding of two special Stag Gatherings for 2020. One in the Toronto area at Bronte in conjunction with British Car Day September 18-20, the other on the west coast in conjunction with the 35th annual All British Field Meet (ABFM) at the VanDusen Botanical Gardens in downtown Vancouver May 15-17.
Vancouver Stag Gathering
The Vancouver Stag Gathering will provide an opportunity for Stag owners to attend a premier British car show and also to participate in a number of enjoyable drives through the Lower Fraser Valley and Coastal Mountain areas, visiting museums or other destinations with a transportation interest. Lunch and dinner outings will also be arranged to enable Stag owners to socialize and talk about their beloved cars.
The ABFM is western Canada's premier British car show and has been dubbed the "Greatest Show on British Wheels"; and for the first time the organizers have created a special voting category for the Stag model. Brass band music, pipe band, food trucks, swap meet, dealer future classics, restoration demonstrations, cars for sale corral and vendor booths - all of which complement the spectacular display of British cars and motorcycles among the flowering rhododendrons and azaleas. We will be organizing Stag-only events the day prior to and the day after the ABFM Show Saturday May 16; so mark your calendars for May 15-17, 2020!
Participants should plan to arrive in Vancouver on the Thursday, May 14. A drive will be organized for Stag owners with a lunch stop and dinner get-together on Friday the 15th. The ABFM car show at the VanDusen Botanical Gardens will be followed by a Stag owners' BBQ on Saturday the 16th. On Sunday, a shorter drive will be organised with a lunch stop. Specific details of the program will be circulated to confirmed participants closer to the date.
When the near-to-final list of participants is available, we will be happy to help drivers pair up or form small 'caravans' of Stags travelling together for added comfort and enjoyment.
Michael Link (CA), Mike Blaisdell (WA), Clay Adams (BC) and Terence McKillen (ON) have formed a working group to arrange TSCUSA West Coast Stag Gathering 2020 with owners participating from British Columbia, the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona and California.
For further information please email Terence McKillen. Details of the All British Field Meet (ABFM) can be found here and the on-line registration for the Show can be found at ABFM Registration. This should be live for the 2020 event by mid-December 2019. Please note that you also need to separately register with TSCUSA at the e-mail cited above and make your own hotel reservations. ABFM has arranged special rates at a number of hotels which are listed on their website.
